A butterfly starts as a tiny egg on a leaf.

A hungry caterpillar hatches and eats lots of leaves.

Then it makes a hard case called a chrysalis.

Inside, its body changes into a butterfly!

A frog lays lots of eggs in a pond.

A tadpole hatches and swims with its tail.

It grows legs and becomes a little froglet.

Its tail shrinks away, and now it is a frog!

Yes! This big change is called metamorphosis.
