For schools and districts
Safe enough for a school.
Simple enough for a Tuesday.
Knowledge Made Fun is a classroom tool first. This page sets out what we never do, the rules the platform is designed around, the ways a class can work without names, and how to evaluate it with your own questions.
What we never do
Four things that are not on the table.
A school leader's first questions, answered before the tour.
No advertising anywhere
There is no advertising on the website or in the app, on any plan.No sale of personal information
We do not sell personal information. A student record exists to run the class and for nothing else.No training of outside AI on student work
The AI drafts questions, rubrics and letters for a teacher to edit. Student work is never used to train an outside model. No AI acting alone
The AI proposes and a teacher decides. Nothing is played, printed or sent until a teacher has read it.
Built around the rules
Designed for the laws a school already follows.
The platform is built in British Columbia and shaped by its privacy laws. Each rule below is a design decision, not a policy page.
- British Columbia's PIPA and FIPPA
- The platform is designed around the Personal Information Protection Act and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act: collect the least, say why, and let people see what is held and ask for it to be deleted.
- COPPA's school authorization
- In the United States, a school may consent on a parent's behalf when a tool is used for an educational purpose and nothing else. A teacher adds students to a class for that purpose, through the school's own consent path, and the record is used to run the class.
- An audit log of every sensitive change
- A change to a student record, a roster or a plan is recorded in an audit log that cannot be edited or deleted, with who made it and when.
- Preparing for a SOC 2 audit
- We are preparing for a SOC 2 audit. The controls, the data inventory and the list of outside services are written records that change with the code, not a page written afterwards.
Two ways to work without names
A class can run without a single real name.
Both are built in, both work with live games, homework and the gradebook, and a teacher chooses per class.
Nickname classes
The server invents a name for each seat, such as Brave Heron, and keeps no personal detail about the student. Live games, homework and the gradebook work as they do in any class.Printed login cards
For young students who have no email. A card carries a code that signs the student in; the account behind it stores no typed text about the student, and its country, region and grade come from fixed lists.
Learning settings
What a teacher can set for a student.
Set by a teacher responsible for the student's record, and applied when the student signs in.
Extra time
More time on a timed question.
Captions
Captions on when a lesson video plays.
Read aloud
Questions read aloud to the student.
Large print
Larger text on the screen.
A calm display
Less movement and softer colours.
What we hold
What is kept, and where the full list lives.
The privacy notice is the record of what is held, for how long, and how to ask for a copy or a deletion. This is the short version.
- A teacher
- An email address, a name and the classes the teacher creates, with the quizzes, homework and results inside them.
- A student in a class
- A name or an invented nickname, the class, and the work done in it. Notes, contacts, health details and learning settings exist only when a teacher chooses to record them, and are read only by a teacher responsible for the record.
- A family
- One sign-in with a profile for each child. A child's answers stay private to the child; a parent sees announcements, the work that is due and returned, and reviewed reflections.
- For how long
- The privacy notice lists what is kept and for how long, how to take a copy of your data and how to have it deleted. Read the privacy notice
How to evaluate
Three steps, no sales call.
Everything a district needs to form a view is on the site or one message away.
