What the lesson says

In a team game, how can you get a teammate to pass you the ball?

Here is a game seen from above, like on a coach's board.

Your team is in yellow, and the defenders are in blue.

Your teammate has the ball and wants to pass it.

You are standing right behind a defender.

The passing lane, the straight path for the ball, is blocked.

If your teammate passes now, the defender could easily steal the ball.

First, find open space, an area with no defenders nearby.

Then move quickly away from your defender and into that space.

Now the passing lane is clear, with no defender in the way.

Call for the ball so your teammate knows you are ready.

Your teammate passes, and the ball reaches you.

Remember: to get a pass, move into open space where the passing lane is clear.
