A child in the middle, marked "body image", is joined by arrows to three things that shape how we see ourselves: social media, where many photos are edited or filtered and not always real, the words we hear, and our own thoughts. Kind words and kind thoughts fill the picture with hearts, the child is reminded of what their body can do, like play, laugh and hug, and the video ends with "ask a trusted adult" and the recap "Many things shape body image, so be kind".

What the lesson says

What shapes the way we see ourselves?

Body image is how you think and feel about your body.

Many things can shape our body image.

One of them is social media, the posts we see online.

Many photos online are edited or filtered, so they are not always real.

The words we hear from other people shape it, too.

So do our own thoughts about ourselves.

Kind words help everyone feel good about themselves.

We can be kind to ourselves, too.

Think about what your body can do, like play, laugh and hug.

If you ever feel worried about your body, ask a trusted adult.

Many things shape our body image, so be kind to others and to yourself.
