Eight red and five yellow counters are counted one at a time into two ten-frames. The 5 splits into 2 and 3 so two counters can fill the first frame, and the video shows that 8 + 5 = 8 + 2 + 3 = 10 + 3 = 13, checks it by counting on from ten, and ends on the recap "Make 10 first".
