What the lesson says
How do we divide 7.56 by 0.12? Let us find out.
First, we need to make 0.12 a whole number.
Move its decimal point 2 places to the right.
Now it has become 12.
Do the same with 7.56. Move the point 2 places to the right.
It has become 756.
Both numbers are now 100 times bigger, so the answer stays the same.
Now let us divide 756 by 12.
How many times does 12 go into 75?
12 times 6 is 72.
12 times 7 is 84. That is too big.
So write 6 on top.
Now subtract 72 from 75.
3 is left.
Bring down the 6.
How many times does 12 go into 36?
12 times 3 is 36.
12 times 4 is 48. That is too big.
So write 3 on top.
Now subtract 36 from 36.
0 is left.
Nothing is left over, so the division is finished.
So 7.56 divided by 0.12 equals 63.
