Three messages that sell a snack, a drink and a look are filled in one at a time, and a simple table under them answers two questions: who made each one (a company) and why (to sell you something). The video then points out a big promise and an edited photo, shows that real bodies come in many shapes and sizes, and ends on the recap "Always ask: who made it, and why?"

What the lesson says

Who makes the ads and posts we see, and why?

Here is a snack ad that says: crunchy fun!

A drink ad says: be a winner!

A post about clothes says: get this look!

First, ask: who made it?

Each one was made by a company: a snack company, a drink company and a clothing shop.

Next, ask: why did they make it?

They made it to sell you snacks, drinks and clothes.

Most ads want you to buy something.

Ads make big promises, but a drink cannot make you a winner.

Photos in ads are often edited on a computer to look perfect.

Real bodies come in many shapes and sizes.

If you are not sure about a message, ask a trusted adult.

When you see an ad or a post, always ask: who made it, and why?
