The video works out −24 ÷ (−6) by first dividing without the signs to get 4, then checking 4 and −4 by multiplying with −6 to show that the answer is positive 4. It then gives the sign rules for dividing, which are the same as for multiplying (same signs give a positive answer, different signs a negative one), and ends on the recap "Divide the numbers, then use the sign rules".

What the lesson says

What is negative 24 divided by negative 6?

First, divide the numbers without their signs.

24 divided by 6 is 4.

So is the answer 4 or negative 4?

Division undoes multiplication, so the answer times negative 6 must be negative 24.

4 times negative 6 is negative 24, so 4 works.

Negative 4 times negative 6 is positive 24, so negative 4 does not.

So negative 24 divided by negative 6 is positive 4.

When the two signs are the same, the answer is positive.

When the two signs are different, the answer is negative.

These are the same sign rules as for multiplying.

To divide integers, divide the numbers, then use the sign rules.
