A big drum goes "boom" and makes a low sound, and a small bell goes "ting" and makes a high sound, so big things often sound low and small things often sound high. Then the same drum is tapped gently for a soft sound and hit hard for a loud one, with each sound drawn as a wave, to show that a sound depends on what makes it, and how.
