A diagram builds up around the word "energy": five forms are each shown with an everyday example, a rolling ball, a light bulb, a drum, a hot drink and a plug with its wire. Then a "stored energy" group adds a squashed spring (elastic), food and a battery (chemical) and a ball lifted up high (gravitational), ending on "Energy has many forms, and some are stored."

What the lesson says

What is energy?

Energy is what makes things happen.

Energy comes in many different forms.

A rolling ball has motion energy.

A glowing light bulb gives off light energy.

When you hit a drum, it gives off sound energy.

A hot drink gives off heat energy.

Electrical energy flows through wires.

Some energy is stored, ready to be used later.

A squashed spring stores elastic energy.

Food and batteries store chemical energy.

A ball lifted up high stores gravitational energy.

Energy comes in many forms, and some of it is stored.
