Translations: Slide Every Point the Same Way

Triangle ABC slides 5 units right and 3 units down on a grid, with each unit counted along one corner's path, and its corners move from A(1, 7), B(4, 6) and C(2, 4) to A′(6, 4), B′(9, 3) and C′(7, 1). The video works out the rule x + 5, y − 3, shows that the image has the same size, shape and direction, and ends on the recap that a translation slides every point the same distance in the same direction.

What the lesson says
A translation slides a shape to a new place, without turning it or flipping it.
Let us translate triangle A B C 5 units right and 3 units down.
First, read the coordinates of each corner.
Slide the whole triangle 5 units to the right.
Then slide it 3 units down.
The new triangle is called the image, A prime B prime C prime.
A moved from 1, 7 to 6, 4.
Moving 5 units right adds 5 to the x-coordinate.
Moving 3 units down takes 3 away from the y-coordinate.
In the same way, B moves from 4, 6 to 9, 3.
And C moves from 2, 4 to 7, 1.
The image has the same size and shape, and it faces the same way.
Every point moved 5 units right and 3 units down.
A translation slides every point the same distance in the same direction.
