Starting from the origin on a first-quadrant grid, the video plots the ordered pair (5, 3): x comes first, so go right 5, then up 3, counting each step. It marks and labels the point, checks that it lines up with 5 on the x-axis and 3 on the y-axis, and ends on the recap: start at (0, 0), go across by x, then up by y.

What the lesson says

How do we plot the point 5, 3 on a grid?

The x-axis goes across, and the y-axis goes up.

The two axes meet at the origin, the point zero, zero.

This part of the grid, where x and y are both positive, is the first quadrant.

This is an ordered pair: x comes first, then y.

Always start at the origin.

x is 5, so go 5 units to the right.

y is 3, so go 3 units up.

Mark a dot there and label it 5, 3.

Check that it lines up with 5 on the x-axis and 3 on the y-axis.

To plot a point in the first quadrant, start at the origin, go across by x, then up by y.
