Grade 4, Fractions, decimals and percents
Tenths and hundredths
Write tenths and hundredths as decimals and as fractions, then compare them.
Three levels
One skill, rising difficulty
Each sheet carries one level. The three are the same skill at rising difficulty, each named for what it practises.
- Level 1: Fraction to decimal
- Write each fraction as a decimal.
- Level 2: Decimal to fraction
- Write each decimal as a fraction with 10 or 100 on the bottom.
- Level 3: Mixed numbers and comparing
- Write each mixed number as a decimal. Then write <, > or = in each circle.
Worked example
How the sheet explains it
The helper printed at the top of each sheet: one solved example and the steps a student follows, before the first question. Every number sentence in it is proven by the same checker as the answer key.
Level 1: Fraction to decimal
27/100 = 0.27
- Tenths go in the first place after the point, hundredths in the second.
- 27 hundredths is 2 tenths and 7 hundredths: 27/100 = 0.27.
- With no tenths, write 0 in the tenths place: 8/100 = 0.08.
Level 2: Decimal to fraction
0.47 = 47/100
- One place after the point means tenths. Two places mean hundredths.
- 0.47 is 47 hundredths, so 0.47 = 47/100.
Level 3: Mixed numbers and comparing
3 45/100 = 3.45
- Keep the whole number in front of the point.
- The fraction part: 45/100 = 0.45, so 3 45/100 = 3 + 0.45 = 3.45.
- To compare, write both as decimals with two places: 0.4 = 0.40. 40 hundredths > 35 hundredths, so 0.4 > 0.35.
