Worked example
How the sheet explains it
The helper printed at the top of each sheet: one solved example and the steps a student follows, before the first question. Every number sentence in it is proven by the same checker as the answer key.
Level 1: By 3, 4 and 6
12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32
- Look at two numbers side by side: 16 − 12 = 4.
- The numbers go up by 4. Add 4 each time.
- 20 + 4 = 24, 28 + 4 = 32.
Level 2: By 10, 25 and 100 from any number
180, 205, 230, 255, 280, 305
- Look at two numbers side by side: 205 − 180 = 25.
- The numbers go up by 25. Add 25 each time.
- 205 + 25 = 230, 255 + 25 = 280, 280 + 25 = 305.
Level 3: Backward by any number
412, 406, 400, 394, 388, 382
- Look at two numbers side by side: 412 − 406 = 6.
- The numbers go down by 6. Take away 6 each time.
- 406 − 6 = 400, 400 − 6 = 394, 388 − 6 = 382.
