- Multiply.
- Level 3: All facts to 10 × 10

Worked example
How the sheet explains it
The helper printed at the top of each sheet: one solved example and the steps a student follows, before the first question. Every number sentence in it is proven by the same checker as the answer key.
Level 1: 2s, 5s and 10s
5 × 8 = half of 10 × 8 = 40
- 5 is half of 10, so 5 × 8 is half of 10 × 8.
- Ten 8s: 10 × 8 = 80.
- Half of 80: 80 ÷ 2 = 40. So 5 × 8 = 40.
Level 2: 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s and 10s
4 × 7 = 2 × 7 + 2 × 7 = 28
- 4 is double 2, so 4 × 7 is double 2 × 7.
- 2 × 7 = 14.
- Double 14: 14 + 14 = 28.
Level 3: All facts to 10 × 10
8 × 7 = 5 × 7 + 3 × 7 = 56
- Break 8 apart: 8 = 5 + 3.
- 5 × 7 = 35 and 3 × 7 = 21.
- Add: 35 + 21 = 56.
