Grade 4, Operations

Division facts, mixed

Mixed division facts, from dividing by 2, 5 and 10 up to all facts to 100.

Three levels

One skill, rising difficulty

Each sheet carries one level. The three are the same skill at rising difficulty, each named for what it practises.

Level 1: Divide by 2, 5 and 10
Divide. Use a multiplication fact to help.
Level 2: Divide by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10
Divide. Use a multiplication fact to help.
Level 3: All facts to 100
Divide. Use a multiplication fact to help.

Worked example

How the sheet explains it

The helper printed at the top of each sheet: one solved example and the steps a student follows, before the first question. Every number sentence in it is proven by the same checker as the answer key.

Level 1: Divide by 2, 5 and 10

5 × 9 = 45, so 45 ÷ 5 = 9

  1. Count by 5s to 45: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45.
  2. That is 9 fives, so 5 × 9 = 45.
  3. Division undoes it: 45 ÷ 5 = 9.

Level 2: Divide by 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10

4 × 8 = 32, so 32 ÷ 4 = 8

  1. Dividing by 4 is halving twice: 32 ÷ 2 = 16 and 16 ÷ 2 = 8.
  2. So 32 ÷ 4 = 8, and 4 × 8 = 32.

Level 3: All facts to 100

7 × 8 = 56, so 56 ÷ 7 = 8

  1. Start from a fact you know: 7 × 5 = 35.
  2. Count on by 7s to 56: 42, 49, 56. That is 3 more 7s.
  3. 5 + 3 = 8, so 7 × 8 = 56 and 56 ÷ 7 = 8.
