A cat, a hat and a bat appear one at a time, each with its word underneath, and the shared ending "at" lights up in every word to show that words ending with the same sound are rhyming words. Then a dog arrives with a different end sound, so "dog" gets a cross instead of a tick, and the video ends on the recap that rhyming words end with the same sound.

What the lesson says

Do you know what rhyming words are?

First, here is a little cat.

Next, here is a tall hat.

Then here is a bat that can fly.

Say them with me: cat, hat, bat.

All three words end with the sound at.

Words that end with the same sound are rhyming words.

Only the first sound of each word changes.

Now look at this friendly dog.

Dog has a different end sound.

So cat and dog do not rhyme.

Rhyming words end with the same sound, like at.
