Worked example
How the sheet explains it
The helper printed at the top of each sheet: one solved example and the steps a student follows, before the first question. Every number sentence in it is proven by the same checker as the answer key.
Level 1: Different tens
47 < 62
- Both numbers have the same number of digits, so start at the left with the tens.
- Compare the tens: 4 < 6.
- So 47 < 62.
Level 2: Close numbers
58 > 53
- Start at the left. The digits match until the ones. If every digit matches, write =.
- Compare the ones: 8 > 3.
- So 58 > 53.
Level 3: Order three numbers
38, 52, 34 34 < 38 < 52
- Look at the tens. 52 has the most tens, so it is the greatest.
- 34 and 38 have the same tens. Compare the ones: 4 < 8.
- In order: 34 < 38 < 52.
