A flat paper square and a solid toy block are compared one thing at a time: flat or solid, sides and corners counted one by one, matching flat faces, and no curves. The block slides but does not roll, then it stacks, and the video ends on "A square is flat. A block is solid."

What the lesson says

Here is a square, and here is a block.

Let's compare them, one thing at a time.

The square is flat, like a sheet of paper.

The block is solid. You can pick it up.

Count the square's sides: one, two, three, four.

Now count the corners: one, two, three, four.

The block has flat faces, the same as this square.

Neither one has curves. All their edges are straight.

Push the block. It slides. It does not roll.

But it stacks. Another block sits on top.

A square is flat. A block is solid.
