Worked example
How the sheet explains it
The helper printed at the top of each sheet: one solved example and the steps a student follows, before the first question. Every number sentence in it is proven by the same checker as the answer key.
Level 1: Different thousands
3461 < 5208
- Both numbers have the same number of digits, so start at the left with the thousands.
- Compare the thousands: 3 < 5.
- So 3461 < 5208.
Level 2: Close numbers
7254 < 7284
- Start at the left. The digits match until the tens. If every digit matches, write =.
- Compare the tens: 5 < 8.
- So 7254 < 7284.
Level 3: Order three numbers
4705, 6075, 4250 4250 < 4705 < 6075
- Look at the thousands. 6075 has the most thousands, so it is the greatest.
- 4250 and 4705 have the same thousands. Compare the hundreds: 2 < 7.
- In order: 4250 < 4705 < 6075.
