How the sheet explains it
The helper printed at the top of each sheet: one solved example and the steps a student follows, before the first question. Every number sentence in it is proven by the same checker as the answer key.
Level 1: Loonies, toonies and bills (whole dollars)
- Count the bills first: $20 + $5 = $25.
- Add the coins: $25 + $2 = $27, then $27 + $1 = $28, then $28 + $1 = $29.
- The total is $29.00.
Level 2: Bills and coins
- Bills and dollar coins first: $10 + $5 + $2 = $17.
- Then the cents: 25¢ + 10¢ + 5¢ = 40¢.
- $17 and 40¢ make $17.40.
Level 3: Larger sets up to $100
- Bills: $50 + $20 + $5 = $75.
- Dollar coins: $75 + $2 + $1 = $78.
- Cents: 25¢ + 25¢ + 10¢ + 5¢ = 65¢.
- $78 and 65¢ make $78.65.
